By the way i was about 7 at the time just incase you were thinking all my transactions were done involving Dinky or Corgi cars!
First record I bought was for my mum's b'day - Rene and Ronatta's 'Save Your Love for Me'. The first single I bought for myself was Do the Bartman. There was an acapella version on the CD, so I sampled it and made my own version .. I am sad, I know. First album was Doolittle by the Pixies... oo, no that was when I started getting into music properly. The first album I ever bought was in fact Sugar Tax by OMD. I loved Pandora's Box and Seven Seas....

Mine was Jailhouse Rock by Elvis at the time he made good records. It was one of the old 78 rpm shellac records and I dropped it and broke it on the way home. Can't have been more than seven or eight. With tears in my eyes I took it back, asked if it could be mended, and the nice man in the shop - Dancy's Records in Edmonton - gave me a new one. It's still in the loft, nothing to play it on, but you don't get rid of your rites of passage, do you?
