Too Shy To Apply For A Role

I have seen a job I would love to do, but due to my shyness and not being very worldly-wise (I get by, but I have lived a rather sheltered existence and have been a clean living person), I feel I will be a poor fit when it comes to the culture of where the role will be.  It's a male dominated environment and I'm not sure I'll 'survive' in it.  I worry I'll be taunted for my not 'being around the block', if you get me.

However, I like the sound of the role itself.  What should I do?  🤷‍♀️

Go for it Treacle, you don't have to stay if you don't like it. If you don't get it, it will be valuable interview experience

Treacle/  Some more info re the job is needed before advice can be truthfully given.  Will the males you mention be working beside you or are they in different departments, etc?  At one time, I worked as the only female on sector with almost
seventy men (sharing an office portakabin with nine) and really they just treated me as "one of the boys" - you've got to show you are not someone to be messed with!  Be able to ignore any crass comments.  Have you any idea how many other females work there?

I'm the opposite of you, Treacle. I'd love a job in a male dominated environment. I get on much better with men than women.

Go for it,Treacle and give as good as you get.
