Khan's Londonistan! wonderful.

Apparently its all part of living in a multi cultural city.

I wonder if this is Black Mark I keep hearing about being against me.

I've always said that I would only live in London if someone paid me to do so.  Now I'd chuck the money back at them.

Beats me why anyone who can move out - doesn't.  I'm thinking about an old schoolfriend (comes from Yorkshire, knows we don't wear woad) who has a granddaughter who has had to give up her job due to panic attacks on the roads and transport down there.

'Why doesn't she apply for a job further north?' I asked. 'She'd be fine up here.'  Totally blank response from granddaughter.

It is horrible, but people will vote for Khan. I'm so sorry for those who can't move out; really, really sorry for some (including my old school-friend who is now housebound and her daughter can't visit as often because of the ULEZ charges) - but why don't others just vote with their feet?

Mayor Khan has just won a thumping majority against a rather hopeless Tory opponent in the London mayor election.

You can attempt to oust him again in 4 years when hopefully you can find a more credible/electable candidate.

Until then, this 500 year streak of London being a crime ridden place will continue.

"but why don't others just vote with their feet?"

because it actually isn't as bad as you are portraying it

The phrase 'there goes the neighbourhood' may be due for a rerun.

// it actually isn't as bad as you are portraying it //

But if the crime isn't that bad, why are people attacking the dusky faced muslim major ?

The following police areas have higher crime rates per capita than London - highest first:

Cleveland, West Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, West Midlands, Merseyside, South Yorkshire, Humberside, Gwent, Durham.

Furthermore, the rise in crime in London corresponds with the reduction in funding for the police. The mayor is not responsible for police funding, that's the responsibility of the Government - ie, the Tory austerity measures.

we all have so much to thank Theresa May for.

someone was mugged nearish my local station in the home counties the other day.  Should i blame the london mayor too??

As a Londoner born and bred it saddens me to say it but London is the pits now.

London is not the pits, despite the weather, it's full of things to see and do; I have Muslims on each side of me, and black people, and people from EU countries upstairs, and they're all fine.  But if people quaake in fear and move out to the notoriously crime-free shires ... well, so much more space for the other 8 million of us.

Well said JNO

Jno, it depends upon  your personal standards.  Official notices on blocks of council flats warning of muggings, as can be seen in East London at least, fall far short of mine.  I weep for the loss of the London that was.

Let's bang a few pans to celebrate the success of diversity.

London is a megacity and compares to most other cities of equivalent size when it comes to crime... the place has a lot of problems but it simply isn't the hellhole that some people say it is

London is a total pit no matter what the hard left/commies on here are trying to claim with their whataboutery. I do wonder if some have actually been there aprat from to see Buck House.

I lived in Peckham in the 90's so I am well used to things not being cosy but now, no.  It's finished.

Time has come I think to release London of the Capital crown.  Back to Winchester I propose.

//why are people attacking the dusky faced muslim major ?//

I see, no argument so resort to lazy racism.

Disgusting.

//lazy racism.//

? LOL, that's awesome coming from you 🤣
