All In One Computers

Does anyone have one?  If so, how do you find it and what are the pros and cons?

You can get quite reasonably priced all in ones that are more than adequate for most people. Not all have touch screens but the touch screen can be useful in some situations especially if the screen can swivel flat.

get one like I suggest at 12:01 and plug all your existing peripherals into it. Less than £200 and those screens with a PC in the back are a lot worse and 8 times the price. Treat yourself to a big wide curved screed and you'll be still be quids in.

I think that^^ is the sort of thing Naomi means. They look very slick and neat but not for me. They are very much stuck with what is in the package and cannot be easily repaired and upgraded, have the storage, graphics or ram increased to kep up with possible future devepolements. I like my desktop tower to be urgradable and not to require external perhipherals or add ons.

All-in-ones are, effectively, overgrown laptops; a much bigger screen, slightly bigger footprint and all but impossible to expand and not as portable. Desktops can have discs added/changed, cards inserted to add USB ports etc but are totally non-portable.

(I stopped using any type of desktop PC several years ago.  I now only use a laptop which, if you think about it, is a type of all-in-one computer anyway).

That is what I was thinking of Togo.  I've got a laptop and a tablet and I quite often use my phone on AB, but as computers go I prefer using a desktop so I'll just replace what I have.

Had one for years, no more problematic than the conventional set up I had previously, great for areas where space is at a premium

Yes Naomi and don't forget those who have a desktop already have no need to purchase a moniter, keyboard, mouse, speakers etc. You can also get a disc player/burner into a desktop tower or a multi card reader in one of the front apertures. Just more versatile all round.

Both my all in ones have built in dvd drives, memory card readers and lots of ports.

I've added SSDs and more RAM to both.
