Hi Emma G 1650, I bet you have more than you think ..... OK what I would class as basic items are things and colours that suit you. Do you have some good friends that can shop with you and be honest with you about what you look good in? As for ideas about trends, they are everywhere, magazines, what other people are wearing and shop windows give you a pretty good idea on what's in fashion at the moment, ask sales assistants as well, some are really helpful. I beleive that Top Shop do a free personal shopper service (a great shop to start in) Also consider having your colours done, www.houseofcolour.com believe me, that will help you put items together much more easily and also stops you wasting money on items that really don't suit you.
