11 Answers
a friend i have not seen for a while has just come over for a chat, as i'm stuck at work till late, anyway to the point, the last time i saw him was, when he stayed in earls court, and we went out for a pint, well the hotel near his was a transvestite hotel, so after a few brave pills of strong lager we decided to go for a swift half there, well it was like the bar in star wars, crossed with a freddie mercury party, after years of travelling the world i have never experianced anywhere like it.but everyone was enjoying themselves, so good luck to them. so wheres the strangest place you've been? and i may be a sailor, but i'm not, gay or homophobic....just broadminded

Anyway, the strangest place I have ever been (apart from my house of course!) was a teeny weeny supposedly hip and trendy nightclub in a tiny farming village in the South of France. A lot of the guys were wearing work overalls and wellies and there were tractors in the carpark. Had a great time though.

Romania. From the airport having big scary guns pointed at you, our first travel through Bucharest on a bus with Michael Jackson's What about us playing (they have music on buses), a very flourescent fast food restaurant where the staff were on rollerskates and the Outhere Brothers were being played on a continuous loop (think "Don't Stop Wiggle Wiggle").
After an 8 hour journey on a train like something out of the railway children in a tiny 4 person compartment for 8 of us, all our luggage and guitars we stepped out into tiny village in the mountains and was like going back 100 years with ponies and carts, livestock everywhere and no phones.
The whole experience was amazing, spending a week helping to run a youth camp then another week staying with a family in Tirgu Jiu. The whole place is a big culture shock.
