me and my sister are both on it and it has us both a lot! neither of us has experienced side effects and it really does help if you take them as prescribed!
Yep they worked for me, and no side affects

thank you for answers, my prescription says 2 to be taken 3 times aday, is that regardless of whether bleeding heavy or not, also side effects say that cause eye problems. How long do you stay on them for? Can i ask why you were put on them??xx
i'm on it for the same as you. I've been on them a while with no side effects at all. Take 2 three times a day on every day that you are bleeding and it lessens the flow to a bearable amount.

Sophieb, so i begin the day i start bleeding and stop when bleeding stops?? have been prescribed 60 tablets. have you been told you have pcos too??

have you ever thought of acupuncture for hheavy and irregular bleeding, reading on a web page today that its meant to work, better than popping pills??? may try???
Hi lynneylou! Yes start them on the day you start bleeding and stop taking them when you stop! I don't have PCOS but have been bothered with heavy periods for years. So has my sister. And my mum had to have a hysterectomy at 39! The tranexamic acid prevents the need to wear 3 sanitary towels at once! I was finding it difficult to leave the house for fear of having a "flood" while shopping etc!

ditto! is it something you can take for years on end or does the problem right itself? do you have to have reg check ups whilst on this like i've read on the net?
thanks for your input xx
Hi again lynneylou! I believe in some cases it can rectify the problem to a certain degree, but if they dont work for you you should go back to your GP. My sis was on them a while then they became less effective. She then had a uterine ablation(think thats what its called!)-kinda like a D&C. She was ok for a while but is back on them now with more success!
Tranexamic Acid - effect would have been good !
No effect - took them fr heavy periods and irregular bleeding. Bleeding more often than not.
Ended up with hysterectomy at 40 . Not what i wanted, having failed to concieve until 36 and 37 but never looked back really since.
I have tried everything for heavy periods, Mirena didnt work, the pill I could not take, various other drugs before Tranexamic Acid. The Tranexamic acid worked to a degree but was still too heavy. I had a TCRE in November where they take the lining of the womb away, but my periods are better but the period goes on for longer than before and there is a strong possibility of the lining growing back again. I am now waiting for a keyhole hysterectomy leaving my cervix and ovaries intact. I feel quite happy to have this if it will give me a normal life. I have three lovely children so I am ok with this. I think the Tranexamic acid would have worked had I been allowed to take three tablets, but the prescribed maximum of two every four hours was not enough. Also the risk of a stroke worried me as it thickens your blood and hence the blood vessels in the uterus so they dont bleed as much.
