Double beds for children.

Just seen on Eastenders that annoying little brat, Ben, having a double bed at his age.

I had a fairly large bedroom as a child but only ever had a single bed. Then at boarding school, I was confined to a single. University halls, had a single. And to add insult to injury, most, though not all, Offcers quarters had single beds.

Is this a sign of the times insofar as parents are now giving kids double beds.

As far as I can recall I was not given the option as a child. Does this mean my mother didn't love me?

We had single bed's as children, likewise my children. Wardy gaining influence? Now that's hilarious!!!
I had 3/4 sized bed when I was about 12. Bit of pain when I got to uni and the bed in halls was smaller than a single. Wasn't used to that.
Now I have the biggest bed I can get in my room ( a superking) as we cosleep with our youngest.

as you remember you're childhood so vividly you must have some deep psychological problem, possibly being the only child.

I always had a double bed, as I insisted on taking all my toys with me, and lining them up on the pillows.

Following from Cushty's post (which has now been removed) the point of a double bed is that it is big enough to be shared by two people isn't it?
Do parents feel that the age of 13 - 14 is the right time for their children to get a double bed and start sleeping with people?
When I left home at 18 I got a double bed so I could sleep with people (from time to time). Before I left home it was single beds only. I would have been confused if my parents had furnished me with a double bed on my 14th birthday.
isnt it a pity we didnt all have children like cushtyfred ? dope,
