I learned on an electric 15 years ago and found it very hard to get used to an acoustic and my friend learned on his encore acoustic and then gave me the biggest showing up on my own guitar.

I agree with Paulst. Ideally you should learn on an acoustic before you start using an electric, after which you can take up the bass once you've learnt the general principles.
There's no hard and fast rule though, I just think it makes more sense that way.
That package looks amazingly cheap. It must be all made in China, so not great quality wise, but perfectly ok for a beginner.
You wouldn't want to spend 500+ on something and then find you just didn't take to it, so it's probably a good deal to start with.

I never really learned the guitar until about 3 years into playing when i bought a Gibson Les Paul Standard Ebony and i was transformed. I learned the whole of Appetite for Destruction on that guitar and it really does make you play better, so yeah i agree but the best you can afford, learn on the acoustic then rock out build your own style and just feel your way through it.
Ditch the scale books and only use them to learn the 15 basic chords after that develop your own way of playing and don't listen to the way other people want you to play it will only make it harder.
Good luck and savour it, cause its the best time you'll have. The chics love the guitar too ;)
