I will be moving house soon and currently only have a washing maching which is owned by the landlord. We are buying our next property so will need to get a washer. I am considering getting a washer/dryer to save on space (wouldnt have room for a seperate tumble dryer) however I have heard from people that have had them many years ago that they arent that great. Has anyone currently got one and are they any better these days? Appreciate any advice,Thanks :)

Hi - had mine for 5 years now and never a problem - its a Hotpoint one and got it from one of those electrical discount places (as it had a dint on the side).

I too had heard bad reports before I got mine but since then I know lots of other people who have had them and been fine.

On average in winter I do 4 loads a week and 3 dries and in summer 4 loads and no drying so its had a reasonable amount of use.

They are much better now than they were even a few years ago.

Sounds like a good idea
The only problem is that you can't put another load in until the first load is dry. If you have lots of washing to do it may take ages.

Thanks for all your helpful answers, something I should have mentioned before but forgot about, was do people that have washer dryers find that they overly crease the clothes?
Just make sure that you put similar materials in the dryer together as it makes it more efficient. Never bothered with those tumble dryer sheets, they always seem a bit chemically to me.
Rubbish in my experience

However, I went from having separate ones to a combined one.

Once you have separate ones, you'll never go back
