DVD Decryptor to bypass copy protection, and get the decrypted VOBs on my hard drive.
DVD Shrink to remove unwanted menus, soundtracks, and other content then compress the video to fit on a standard DVD.
I then use Nero to burn the finished article.
True it takes a bit longer using three programs instead of one but the finished article is the best it can be.
I used DVD X Copy years ago and got annoyed straight away as it puts a crappy "BACKUP" logo right at the start of the DVD.

Just tried that DVD decrypter software but had probs with it. It did most of the vob files but did not do the 1st one which has 5mins of begining of film on it. So dont understand that. Is there way to get that 1st Vob file also done on computer. After have all VOBS i guess just use Nero to burn it. Anyway any advice would be great
if dvd decrypter of DVD shrink is not "doing" one of the vob files it means that it is uncrackable or unreadable.
Download DVD43 - http://www.dvd43.com/ - which is an added software which sits in the background and boosts dvd shrink/decrypters capability of cracking the code.
DVD Shrink will compress any dvd to 4.7gb or less. You can do it manually by remving menus, unwanted languages or you can ask it to do it automotically. Anything compressed under 55% may come out a little pixelated. 55% and above and you will get a crystal clear picture.
DVD Decrypter will copy all files from dvd to harddrive without compressing. Good for films 4.7 or less. Anything over, use Shrink. Use Nero Express to burn the discs. I have used Decrypter and Shrink and Nero for 2 yrs, and it has worked fine. You will find that some dvds just will not copy as the coding is to advanced.

I must admit I have never come across one that Decryptor can't do.
Is there a specific error message that comes up on the first VOB? It seems strange that it will do all the others ok, maybe it is corrupt in some way. Does it play ok?
I must admit I don't copy all that many DVD's so I certainly don't know it all but I've never had a problem decrypting.
Thanks for the link spaced, another tool in the armoury!!
