This question is regarding the Tube. If I start my journey in a zone 4 station and end it in a zone 3 station I am charged �1. This is what I do every day to get to work, however, I have noticed that there is a shortcut in time to my journey, via Stratford by taking the jubilee line. The thing is that when you enter or exit the jubilee line at stratford you have to swipe the oyster card through, so does that mean that I will get charged more than �1 for going through this station?

Well the system should allow you a reasonable length of time to change trains at Stratford if you have to swipe out then swipe in again to get to the Jubbly if there is no gate-free way of doing it. Therefore it should count as one single journey.

But what happens in reality I've no idea.

You�ll know by looking at the display at the beginning and end of your journey. When you show your oyster card at the start it tell you your balance. It doesn�t deduct until the end of your journey, when it usually again shows you your balance.

Hey what was the outcome of this connundrum? More expensive for the faster route?

I tried the route once and the outcome is that its NOT more expensive. Its the same. However, after timing myself on both routes I have come to the conclusion that it takes longer for me to take the Jubilee line via stratford anyway :-)
