At the moment people on the street keep passing me 'salsa dancing (learn to)' cards so maybe that's the in thing.
Not that it's a major hobby, I thorough enjoy immersing myself in a good book. The right literature can catapult you into another world!

ha but thats what i've always wanted to do? I'm not sure.. I like sports but its getting cold and i'd rather not be outside too much especially as I know none of my friends would wanna join in. I really dont know what to do. :S, I just want to do someone productive with my time when i'm not working, at college or with my boyfriend.
Think back to when you were a kid and you admired someone for being cool, then try to analyse why you thought highly of them and the reasons that their hobby or achievements seemed so great.
Then, although you don't have to follow exactly the same hobby (as you have grown up now, or it might not be feasible in practical terms) but you will still be able to try to fit that sense of pride into your own life, whether it be attaining peer approval, medals...whatever you think is 'cool'.
Personally I have just started learning the guitar at a relatively advanced age (compared with when I learned classical instruments such as the violin when I was a kid) and I am finding it really fun, so I hope when you choose your new hobby then it turns out well for you too. And learning a new language is always good as you can join cultural groups and meet a whole new lot of people who all have the same interest in mind

I love geek chic and happen to think trains are kinda cool. People get obsessed with motor sports and I think that to be far more boring and less interesting than a stonking great train. One of my uncles is doctor who fanatic and a train spotter, hes so weird lol but its sweet.
Sports are ok in the winter, they warm you up dont let the weather put you off. Easy to join an netball or a football team or badminton is a good work out and indoors.

Birdwatching - stupid title, as it involves taking an interest in all around you whether it be butterflies, trees, wild flowers or birds. All you need is a cheap pair of binoculars and a pocket book for identification to start you off.
If you want to take it a stage further have a 'garden list' or a list for your local river, shore or woods. Endless possibilities and great fun.

knitting is the cool thing at the moment, and you can knit yourself a scarf for the winter!!! Sounds sad, but you see lots of 'cool' people knitting away on the tube in London.
Or
Card making. It'll save you money as you won't need to buy a birhday/Xmas card again. You can pick up really cheap stuff to make a start (oh, and you don't need to be arty!!)
