Recently I am getting this message when I tried using MS Word - " Microsoft Word has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the current application." I don't have the software CD, is there anything I can do or download to get Word functioning again?

I did run CCleaner, ADware, Giant Disk Cleaner and after running those then this problem started happening.

Thanks for your help!

I would try restoring your computer to an earlier date

Thanks Yvonne for you quick response and suggestion. Sad to say it did not work, I'm still getting the same error message. Everything installed is still there in control panel. I don't know what went wrong. Any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks again.
The message would imply that it was installed by a different user and that they elected not to "install for all users". The simplest solution would seem to be to log in as the user who installed software.
Another way round it is to use "openoffice" which is free to download and does (for the average user) 99% of what Word does.
It only loses its feet if you do some really complicated stuff with lots of macros etc.

For day to day use, you can use openoffice to open Word Docs and save them etc. - in place of the Microsoft software

Thanks Rojas and Stevie.

Rojas I'm the one who installed the software and the only one who uses the computer. I don't know how to execute your suggestion, can you please tell me how to go about doing this? I don't have the Word CD. Thanks

Stevie, I have been using OpenOffice but it is limiting my usage of Word documents. Thanks for your help.
Print these instructions off before you start - and follow them exactly. It is do-able if you take your time

Ethel, I no longer have the 2002 Office software, it's only installed on the computer. The instructions said to remove Office, then reinstall it after editing the Registry. Can I just edit the Registry? Will it make sense to do that alone? Thanks.
I have emailed you.

However, copy the relevant part of the registry exactly as it is before making changes, so you can change it back if necessary.

Create a system restore point NOW.

Give it a go. Let me know how you get on. :)
