Hi I was wondered if you could tell how many miles you have to do before you have to replace the cam belt on a vauxall corsa?, mine has done 67 thousand.

Thanks Karen.

Check if u have one first! I have a vauxhall corsa club took it for a service and they managed to frighten me into getting my cambelt changed! Took it in and they rang me and said my car had a metal cambelt and didn't need changing! Think they recommend every 4 years though :) Stef

The manual recommends every 45,000 miles.  Don't want to worry you unnecessarily and I'm crap with cars but I was told that it can cost a lot of money if it goes while you're driving.  If you've lost your manual give your local Vauxhall dealer or mobile mechanic a ring ASAP and ask them.

Depends upon the year. I've got a '99 Astra which should have had it done at 40k - I'm now at 54k. If it had been a 2000 model the spec' would have been 80k. Unlucky for me! Seriously, get it done ( or at least checked). If it goes whilst the engine's running, you can bend all the valves and also damage the pistons. Expensive engine rebuild. I had mine done last week for 168 inc VAT. Cars eh, who'd have one?!
A friend had the belt go on an Astra, and it cost nearly 1000 to get all the bits together and running in harmony again.  Not worth the risk of waiting.  Ask your local Vauxhall dealer, and if they say it should be done, get it done as soon as you can.
