I have a laptop at home which is connected to 1.5mb broadband, but find that due to only having a 20GB hardrive,it is not really upto the job of storing all the downloading I do.I have found a base unit I want to buy which has a 200GB hard drive and which will also allow me to record from my tv directly to the hard drive.I would still like to be able to sit on my sofa with my laptop and do my downloading ,etc, but was wondering if this would still be possible. Is it possible to connect my laptop to the base unit, but for the laptop to be used as a monitor only, and for all the programs to be run from the base unit.

What sort of connection is your broadband? (wired? wireless? router? etc).

You could always set up a network and have the files you are downloading directed to your desktop computer while using your laptop.  I have wireless broadband and have managed to do that a couple of times.

You could try a 'lounge pc'. Massive hard drive, tft screen with a long cable so it can go on a coffee table in front of you, wireless keyboard and mouse. Try this link. http://www.evesham.com/spotlights/mediacenter/index.asp?e=0E7C68FD-4DBD-4F41-A99D-16C6ABE3B426

Not cheap, but a lot of PC.
