i'm currently looking for premises to move my shop into, and ione of the ones i've foud i would have to pay vat on the rent, although ive been told i can claim it back from the government, would i have to be registered for vat to do this, because i wasn't actually planning to register for vat. if i can't claim it back, it too expensive. any help appreciated
You would need to be VAT registered and dont forget once you are VAT registered you will have to add VAT to everything that you sell that is liable to VAT so unless its food or something exempt or zero rated your prices would go up by 17.5%
yeah i know. i think you have to have a turnover of 64,000 before you actually have to be registered for vat by law, and i don't think i will its just, its in my better interests to be seeing as tho the landlord chrages vat.
