there is a tick like creature with wings does anybody out there know what it is?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.yes but wouldnt they be tiny things? this was quite large if it was a midgy, it was extremely fast and was very difficult to catch, the mutt was close to sheep and cows dung, this thing flew faster than any bug i'v ever seen plus buzzed loud and quickly!
even to try to squidge the mite proved impossible, i ended up drowning the thing in soapy water so it wouldnt fly back onto the poor mut who was running round like a loon trying to get away from it!

Looks like a louse fly or flat fly, closely related to the ked (wingless). They're a pest of sheep and deer.

what can i say eh, oh deer yet another yeww eh! lol - but dont think thats it either! that one looked like it had lots of legs, this one had wings (which on some of the photos here http://www.beastsofthebalkans.com/creaturesofb ulgaria.html look like legs in the picture!)
for sure its not a bog standard tick as these photos show http://www.beastsofthebalkans.com/dogticks.htm l - there were also cows grazing in the field where the mut went off to play, does that help any?
