I've just watched a programme where the chef was preparing a pheasant. When he cut it open he said look theres a piece of shot. It looked like a little brown seed, and he said make sure you don't eat any of that because if you get it on your tooth you'll know about it.
What is it, and what does it do to your tooth?

As a child living on a farm rabbit, pheasant etc was the only meat eaten so having a mouthful of shot was commonplace - but it's not recommended as they are solid balls of lead!!!
