Spiders, Help!

Does anyone have any advice on getting rid of spiders, they seem to love my house I see several everyday!

I'm with RoaldoM on this one. Spiders are nature's answers to flies. Surely you don't like flies more!? I like the idea of giving them all names. We call a really monster house spider who lives in our lounge "Humprey" as in "Watch out there's a Humphrey about". If you are arachnaphobic have you thought of hypnotherapy?XX

We have a beasty of a spider that lives behind our fireplace. Simon, and i love him. He doesn't walk across the wall- I swear he stomps across in hobnailed boots. I'd rather have dozens of 'Simons' than horrible nasty disease infested flies.

The others are right!! Spiders are good - they eat all the nasty bugs that contaminate our food and eat our veg we grow. Leave them be and you'll be rewarded.

While i admire the previous answers and envy your feelings about spiders I too would appreciate any advice on keeping them out of the house. For all my life they have terrified me and if I see a big house spider i'm washed over in a cold sweat of fear. I can't go near them to remove them by any means - cruel or not, The idea of being happy to have one living in the lounge with you is horrrendous. My methods are to never open windows if there's a chance it'll rain and i have a clovey smelling 'no more spiders' spray my mum got me but i can't say i've noticed any difference. Anyone with any real advice would be appreciated as it's not funny!

when my cats were young i never had many spiders around.

you could put conkers in the corners of your rooms.
apparently they don't like conkers.

i don't kill spiders. i catch them in a jar and put them outside.
i have conkers in my rooms and to be honest i haven't seen as many as usual.
