downloading from utorrent

i have just changed broadband provider to talk talk getting much better service than from my other supplier but have one problem.
i use utorrent to download films & music and have never had a problem with it, but now i have changed from a modem to a router i keep getting very very slow downloads from utorrent and it keeps saying that my firewall or my router is limiting my network traffic and i need to open up a port, i have no idea how to do this and im only just an amateur at these things if you please do have an answer for me can you please make it easy to understand.
im on windows vista and my router is called a echo life hg520gb huawei
