Anyone here do it ? saw a young mum giving her kids bannanas and grapes as she was shopping - just picked them off the fruit section and let the 3 kids eat them - as bold as brass , if ive tasted just one grape off a bunch to see what they tasted like i felt guilty, do you eat / sample the food as you shop ?

I dont but I have seen people eating pre packed sandwiches, cakes, crisps, bottles of pop, fruit whilst they are shopping.

Im waiting to see someone eat a cooked chicken ;D
ive let mine have drinks and paid at the end ,bit awkward if stuff needs weighing .
I've done it loads. I always pay at the end and ask the cashier to put the empty's in the bin.
Yes but ummmm, that's with bottles of wine
No no no no no!!!!!!
on sunday last in our local tesco, I watched a 70 or so old woman eat two bags of grapes on her slow progress around the isles, we are paying for this blatent shoplifting

Sleepy, someone is asking for you on another thread x
I'll eat stuff with a barcode, but not stuff that's priced by weight. I used to work in a supermarket and if one of the supervisors caught someone eating grapes, they used to call them out over the PA system :-)
ummm, do you not think that you are taking something which isn't yours until you've paid for it?
When I worked on a checkout I had a few people just put empty wrappers through :)

At least they were honest and paid for it though, if anything, it was the people who came in and stood reading through papers and magazines who were more of a pain.

I remember a couple of kids being a right pain on the deli counter once while I was serving, were there for ages before buying a cheese and onion pasty if I remember right.

Not long after they were marched back through the store by the security guard after having been caught with said pasty shoved down the front of one of their trousers!!!

I don't drink wine Panic....where did you get that idea/

I'd only do it on goods with a bar code as I'm not a thief....

If it is packeted stuff I don't suppose the supermarket could take action until you tried to leave without paying, though a store Dick may watch to ensure it is paid for.

A bit different for fruit though which has to be weighed.
I always pay though black bunny. So I'm eating/drinking something that will shortly be mine.

I don't do it often. Tends to be if I'm hungover and need fluids NOW.....!!!!
Maybe you could see it that way, but I know that I'm going to pay for the item and always do, so what does it matter? I do it blatantly just in case the staff think I'm a shoplifter and I've never been told off /asked to stop.
Same as whiskey....
Tis a dangerous activity as there are CCTV cameras all over s-markets which are watched! This is shop-lifting and a handful of grapes is not worth a police conviction.
hi thanks patricia ..just spoke to her
I dont see anything wrong with pre eating stuff that has a barcode as long as you present the wrapper at the checkout, I think its shoplifting to eat fruit that has to be weighed or is loose with no code
I will taste a grape before I buy as I have bought some before that were seriously sour!! But that is the only thing.

Also, I think that with grapes the supermarket allow for the fact that people will taste before they buy in the price.
