FP.s pregnant tums post

Hi FP, I've been trying to submit an answer to your "exposed pregnant tums" post below but for some reason can't get it to work.
Basically as a male approaching your age bracket I'm appalled at the responses, especially, quote:
"not just a "grumpy old lady" thing, I think it provokes the same reaction fromanyone with a sense of decency".
Hello Queen Victoria!
Personally I delight in the sight of pregnant women who don't feel the need to hide behind huge tents as if they had something shameful to hide. I love to see women able to enjoy the beach and sun wearing a two piece that allows the sun and air to reach them as any other.
I love it that kids today get used to the sight and and it's not some mystery to be hidden anway in polite society.
Instead of being so proudly grumpy and anxious to get yourselves to the old age home before your time, why not rejoice in the young and the freedoms that were denied us?

Hey sorry if I came across too strong. its probably the hormones kicking in. My niece is expecting and we're enthralled as it's the first of the next generation in our family. She of course is showing the bump proudly and as a former rebel of the family I'm probably a bit over- supportive of "rocking the boat". My late father once described her as "Looking like a gypsy *****" when she had beaded extensions added to her hair. That's when I was truly appalled!
I guess I make a concerted effort not to turn in to my faher and express opions about fashions and taste because I know from experience how it can hurt. I also receive great love from all my young relatives who feel they can talk to me about anyjthing.
Hope thisn't isn't too late to catch you. Cheers to you and the other grumpies. graeme x.
PS do you go to Glastonbury?

Hi graemer,
I have never been to Glasto and it's my biggest ambition! My other half aint interested and my son won't take me!! I promised myself I would go this year but it doesn't look as if I am going to make it.
Perhaps you could drive all us Grumpies up for the weekend (as long as you have a loo on the coach - I can't bear the thought of the Glasto ones)
xx
Whilst I was pregnant with my daughter when I was 30 years old (am now 33) I would never have put my pregnant belly on display. Complete strangers already think that a woman being pregnant is an excuse to come up and grope your stomach anyway let alone blatantly inviting them to by saying "look I'm pregnant" and displaying it for all to see and there is nothing more annoying.
To me my pregnancy was a private and personal thing to be shared between myself and my husband. For us to enjoy and look forward to becoming a family. That may sound selfish but its the way it was.
I believe that everyone is entitled to dress throughout their pregnancy as they feel comfortable but to let it all "hang out" is not for me and as pregnany is a very personal and special thing, the expectant mother's views should be respected no matter what.
