BT home hub
we have a BT home hub and want to change to a different router. we bought a Netgear one so we set it all up but there is no green light on for the internet .So we phoned netgear up they said the computer is not picking up they IP address from the netgear router can anyone help me with this please thankyou

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.we bought the netgear router because we have just bought laptops for the children and they will be using them upstairs .so we thought we needed something better than a basic home hub. have solved the problem anyway. typed ipconfig /release , then ipconfig /renew into the command prompt and it found an ip address ,so now the netgear works
well done .... on the fix - a "proper" job ;0
I use a home hub (the V2 "new" white one(g) - not the even newer black jobbie (n)) in preference to my old linksys router
I find the configuration is more straight forward ... the firewall security is better and the wireless coverage is stronger + it's fully compatible with the other BT services.
