I have been looking for somewhere to take my 3 year old son for a day out, i love the look of Lapland UK but it is to expensive and has sold out any ideas of similar places

thomas is making appearances with father christmas in a few places. Are you in kent? would essex be too far to travel?

yes the rightup for the Lapland UK in Kent is fantastic, but should be for the price lol. No i live in the midlands, we have a Thomas at Drayton Manor so may try there

Why not try a steam railway? Our lads absolutely loved them when they were tiny (in their mid-twenties now and still do). Our local one (Great Central Railway at Loughborough) does some good Christmas events, as does Severn Valley Railway.

If it's Thomas you're looking for, Nene Valley Railway near Peterborough has the definitive loco, actually name by Rev Awdry. It was an excellent day out years ago when we visited and I'm told they're even better these days.

Sorry, I forgot to mention the Battlefield Line at Market Bosworth. Quite a bit smaller, but possibly cheaper.

My sister went to Lapland in Kent last year
it was washed out by the rain but was then
up and running after a day ...she said it was
wonderful for the children ...think she liked
it too!!!
