Following on from my spyware questions. I run AVG from Grisoft as my Anti-virus program. Is it possible/recommended to have two Anti-virus programs running ? As I have heard that 'Avast' is a good one to have. Thanks in advance.

I wouldnt recommend two anti-viruses running at the same time. I hear the can conflict, essentially cancelling each other out.

You can have 2+ firewalls though, and 2+ spyware removers.

Norton AND Microsoft both officially recommend 1 Avirus, 1 firewall and multiple spyware scanners. Having 2 firewalls is pointless.

i use Avast anti-virus, and Sygate personal firewall both of which are free and top quality! I highly recomend both, and the firewall has even a little icon in the tray to show traffic backwards and forwards. They are indeed value for money!!

On this question I wouldnt run 2 of the same of anything. This would take too much resources from the pc and be pointless. Just make sure the definitions are up-to-date on your anti-virus.

Definitely don't have 2 antivirus. As mentioned, 2 firewalls is relatively pointless but I'd use as many anti spyware progs as you're happy to install : spybot, adaware and microsoft's free software are all recommended. Sometimes one will pick up on a nasty that the others miss.
