Hi, I have mild arthritis in my right hip which causes a small amount of pain during the day but at night I often get woken up by pain actually in my hip but also a burning sensation in my right inner thigh. I've been to docs and she says the burning is the result of a trapped nerve 'somewhere' ???
I have a varicose vein at the site of the pain but she didnt think it was that that was causing it. He solution - take pain killers before bed....
Any advice pls ? TIA Elaine

You need better evaluation, as the burning sensation could be coming either from your back or from your hip and only Xrays with MRI will determine that.

Good advice from your GP re. NSAID's and this may solve your problem. Your hip may be telling you that hip replacement is on the horizon.
my advice is to take the doctors advice!

Thanks for that squad. I've been taking diclofenac for ages and the doc reckoned that it wasnt worth filling me full of radiation by x-ray just to tell me what I already know about the arthritis
Quite....well if the NSAID's relieve the pain then continue. You will know when you want a hip replacement.
