passport validity

my 10 yr passport expires in october.i live in spain but frequently travel back to uk.can i use my passport right up to october or does the 6 month rule apply?

There is no 6 month rule in the EU

Don't forget that, as long as you are renewing a passport within 9 months of its expiry date, you get that unused period adden onto your new passport.

So there is no need to let it run out before you renew it.
