does anyone know how to stop my grass dying where my dog uses it for a toilet(apart from the obvious...keep her off!) She is usually pretty good and waits but sometimes she has these little accidents however small it is, the grass always turns yellow and dies.
Not much you can do about it, except as you say, keep her of it: :-). However, one solution is to dig out the small patches of damaged grass together with a fair amount of soil from underneath, then fill in the spaces left with new turf. But that still leaves you with the problem of keeping her of the grass after you have repaired it.
My lawn is full of yellow patches but it does grow back eventually especially if it rains a lot. I did see something in the pet shop which you give to the dog and reduces the acidity in the wee but I don't like the idea of messing with her natural bodily functions. Just live with it,does it really matter?
our vet sells some things called petrocks th you pit in the dog's drinking bowl and are said to stop the grass burning effect. I have never bothered, if you want a dog , you put up with the minor stuff.....also we have no grass left because of the dogs antics!!
Thanx everyone for your thoughts on the dog wee problem. Think I'll try the tomato juice in small doses to see what happens. Will post back if successful!
I have two bitches and use pet rocks (9.99 from large pet stores)and now intead of dying yellow grass, the grass is lusher and greener where they pee!!
