Does anybody think that the U.S.A will ever let China make any hostile takeover of Taiwan, thankyou

No.  It would cause far too much of an international crisis.  In the long term, when the P.R.C. has developed capitalism for another decade or two, economic liberalisation will eventually lead to political reform, and the two parts of China are likely to re-unite peacefully.

Didn't know there was oil in Taiwan! Why would the yanks bother? They've never done anything about Tibet. And when I say the yanks, I mean us as well; can't see us doing anything either.

slimjimm the reason i ask and why i think it could be a flashpoint is because its such a strategic area and sealane for the whole of the area, China could potentially blockade the whole area
