Series/Season suggestions

Hello, I have been off work on and off all year due to surgery and have had nothing much to do but watch tv. I generally don't like to watch rubbish but after a while you run out of ideas lol. Could you suggest anything gritty/good that I havent seen or heard of please?

Heres so far what I have seen lately:

Bones, E.R, Third Watch, Lie To Me, Life, Firefly (tried pretty much all the Josh Wedon, stuff and have discovered im not much of a fan), House, Huff, Supernatral, Jericho, Touching evil,

Stuff I tried and wasn't keen on:

Greys anatomy, Sopranos, Dexter, Doll House, Burn notice

Any suggestions as I am coming to the end of seasons on everything I have been watching. Thanks alot.

Have you tried the CSI's, Law and Order, NCIS? I like all of those.

Thanks for you answer I havent seen NCIS, I have watched all of CSI and 24, got bored of 24 after season 4. And I didnt like CSI NY or miami lol.

Yes agree with Pericat 'The Gilmoor Girls' is strangely compulsive viewing!

I quite enjoy Diagnosis Murder on BBC1 at 2.15pm but I'm a little sad like that :o)

NCIS is good you will enjoy it!

Try The Shield.

Visceral, amoral, captiovating, edge-of-the-seat drama with an anti-hero you can cheer for and sob along with.

Seven series should keep you busy.

I'll second Andy's suggestion of 'The Shield' & you might enjoy 'Boomtown' . Sadly cancelled in its prime, it was great while it lasted.

Thanks for your suggestions, keep em coming guys. Gilmour girls is strangely compulsive I think because I would love to live in Stars Hollow. I didn't like the wire, Ive no idea why because I generally like HBO stuff. I loved six feet under.

I tried the Sheild and couldnt get on with it, but I will try again...

You should try the West Wing - the whole 8 or so series' were fantastic. Really addictive.

I've actually just finished Season 1 of 24 which i found amazing so i'm disappointed to hear it's not that great after season 4 .... i'll give them try though.
