Good afternoon everyone. Just having a look to see if there was anyone there and I found a post from a prospective new member of the N & Cing club dr b has already extended a welcome, which I endorse, do come and join us mahonia. We tend not to give direct answers to the EV as with other threads, just hints. However, we do have an excellent Dunces Corner for those of us who (for various reasons) don't finish in 6 and a quarter minutes!! As to this week's, have rattled along suprisingly well with the usual leaps of faith, but am finding the NW corner rather a trial. Welcome back drb.
Poser Corn? I think I am going to chuck it over the shoulder and retire to the DC for refreshment and (hopefully with other bored N & Cers) interesting chat! Either I am being totally thick or this is just too obtuse, it is smacking of the nit-picker and I have too much to do, so I shall await the Speccie on Thurs. Now I don't want nagging, am quite happy to continue N & Cing whilst I clatter the keys tomorrow!
Regards
PS Do something with the weather Christina.................................
Well, this is odd. I have ten letters, but they have a 6:4 split, rather than 5:5. The 6 are pluses and seem to be correctly derived in that removing one of the doubles meets the appropriate definition. The 4 minus letters, in clue order, give a sign for happy motoring, if you go back that far. Enough of what I have chimes with turnerjmw's clue to make me think that I'm near, but not near enough.
It never fails: post an answer revealing one's ignorance, and within two minutes the answer arrives in a satori-like flash. Excellent clue, turnerjmw - you should give composing a try! Thank you.
Hi Devadolly. Didnt see your post until just now. Im afraid to ask about the weather as it has been awful here, but improving now. Am joining you in the DC. Have given little time to EV today - supposed to be on holiday so have been out and about despite the wind and rain - but what little I did give was pretty fruitless. Am bogged down in top left corner. Have everything else but havent felt inclined to struggle with devices etc. until I fill that in
Oh and thanks TurnerJMW for that wonderful clue - Id not taken much notice of it but the phrase ld stretcherstuck in my head and suddenly it all fit!
