There is only really a point to hip scoring your dog if you are planning to breed from him. Honestly, unless he is a very good worker or shower or both, in the UK at least, no one is going to beat a path to your door to use your dog.
In the US the score is a word (good, excellent etc) in the UK it is a number which you then compare with the breed average which is the mean score of all dogs of that breed scored. You shouldn't use an animal to breed whose score is lower than the breed mean.
