Peugeot 206 SW 1.4 Diesel Brakes?
Hi,
Can anyone tell me how much should I expect to pay for new discs and pads for the front wheels and new pads + a brake calliper on the rear with labour prices? I've been quoted 530 all in but this seems quite high.

approx parts prices would be
front discs - £25.00
Front pads - £25.00
Rear pads - £25.00
Calliper- £70.00
I have, if anything, gone on the high side for the parts prices, so If that is all they are doing then they seem to be charging about £350 labor, which seems a little steep!
(i'll do the job for £400 :))

Hi, Brakes you do not mess about with regards Quality, as said, Pads can cost from £15 up, 2 Disks, £44.00 the caliper can be exchanged, your own for a part Ex with Warranty £40+ Rear Pads approx the same as front, you said that oil was getting into the rear drum!! If they are disks on the rear do you mean there are traces of Brake fluid on the disk? The price stated by kwik- fit. I would definitely go elsewhere, they are rip off merchants, you say the car has 98000 on the clock, for your own safety, replace them, have you though about a full service? it should be having one at this mileage.

I'll just add, If you have some knowledge regards Car Maintenance you cannot go wrong regards the front pads ) disks, all that is needed is for the car to be safely jacked up, undo the caliper & make sure you hold it up with plastic ties etc, at the sides (3) (9) Oclock of the disk you have should have 2 torx screws put plenty of WD 40 in the direction of the screw then CRACK it with punch the same size as the torx screw itself, then remove, if someone has made a cock up of the screw before use a small chisel to start to open it. with that replaced put back the caliper & take one brake pad out there should be a retaining spring holding this in place, prize the shoe apart then insert the new pad, do not get oil / grease in any form come into contact with the new pads, you can do the job taking your time in under 2hrs, regards Kwik fit, they are tyre fitters not mechanics. Its like asking Mothers Pride for bricks to build a house if you know what I mean. If you are unsure of what has been said get someone to do the job for you, otherwise you will be risking your life.
