Here in Japan I drink green tea all the time. It is very delicious. The stuff I got back in the UK from tea bags - Twinings or whatever was quite disgusting and bitter. I think it's good for you because it has far less caffeine and more antioxidants than regular brown tea, but i'm not an expert. I find drinking fresh green tea has a calming effect. Go for the leaf tea, not teabags. Put a teaspoon of leaf in your cup and pour over hot (not boiling) water, leave for 3 minutes until the tea has settled then drink.
If you like black tea then there is very good chance you will grow to love green tea . I have drunk nothing else for a year now. I love everything about it, so light, delicate and refreshing. Start off with a plain unflavoured one and leave the bag in your cup for about 30sec, you will find the result light, fresh and not at all bitter. I've tried lots of the flavoured variety and liked lemon and jasmine types. My absolute favourite is now Twinings Orange & Lotus flower. Enjoy
Apparently recent studies have shown little benefit in drinking green tea over black tea (i.e. black tea is just as good). Green tea can be a bit iffy, I currently have some Darjeeking Green Tea bags at work and they seem to be a bit better than most.
Hi spangle, when I tried it at first,it seemed like black tea that wasn't exactly stronger, but just with more of a taste,if you know what I mean?I also drink camomile tea,but it definetely is more of an acquired taste!
