Pain after gall bladder op

I had my gall bladder removed at the end of July 2009 . Laparoscopic surgery , all went well.

Since then I have had pain on and off at the site where I used to get the gallstone pain.
It's perfectly cope-able with, but annoying and slightly worrying.
Anyone got any ideas as to what it might be and if I should be drawing it to my GP's attention ? (Some hope...all the appointments today were taken by 08:20 and the next bookable one was not for 2 weeks.)
Thanks.

ladyalex...can't see that it is a "big deal", but see your GP who may refer you back to your surgeon.

Thanks for that, squad....I was hoping that it wasn't a 'big deal'....but I am a bit jittery as I also had my appendix out last year and the histology showed that it contained a pre-cancerous polyp, so I'm now on a 5 yearly endoscopy follow-up programme.
(And I have a seriously bad family history of cancer of the squishy bits.)
ladyalex.....I understand your concern, but malignant disease would be the last thing that a medic would be considering with your particular symptoms.

Thanks, squad.
I'll see my GP as and when I can get an appointment.
Hi ladyalex. I can see why you are concerned but just wanted to say that I had mine removed several years ago and occasionally get pain there still. I did get worried at first and was sent for a scan to see if there was any reason for this but there was nothing. The specialist told me that removing the gall bladder doesn't stop bile production, merely the accumulation and therefore formation of stones and that occasionally there could be pain. I was just advised to eat a balanced diet and I find that mine hurts more if I am off colour or not eating properly. Hope you get it sorted soon

Thanks to you too bensmum.
It's very helpful to hear from someone who's had the same thing.
As I said, it's perfectly cope-able with and nothing even remotely like the gallstone pain, so I'll wait until I see my GP next and mention it, rather than making a special appointment for it.
