My daughter was diagnosed with having a tic about a year ago, but I think it has developed into tourettes as she sniffs uncontrollably every few minutes and makes involuntary noises, can anyone advise? Obviously I will take her to the doctors, just wanted people's views and some background information, thanks in advance
I'm no expert in this subject but can say that my son, when he was about 8-10, had all manner of "tics". I was very worried and I spoke to the doctor. I didn't take my son as I didn't want him thinking it was a big deal, and worrying more. my son was quite insecure at the time and worried excessively about everything. the doctor suggested we ignored all the tics, and it did stop.
he's almost 13 now and still very irritating at times.. but no tics ;o)
helpe.......I am not an expert on Tourette's Syndrome, but the symptoms that your daughter are suffering from are typical of "Facial Tics" which are very common in children.
The"involuntary noises" that you describe, if coming from the throat, are very typical of Facial Tics.
Thanks very much, after doing some research, it seems she may be lacking in Magnesium, so I'm going to ask the GP about Floradix Magnesium Liquid Mineral Supplement 250ml, I know fresh vegetables would be better, but she's ever so fussy like a lot of children these days (I ate what I was given as a child) Thanks again.
Hello. How are you getting on with this? I was just looking up Tourettes as my son seems to have one tic after another, which I know can be common in children, esp boys, but nevertheless, am worrying as usual!
