im trying yahoo messenger for first time - i normally use msm - but can anyone tell me how you know if your contact is online or not ? i cant seem to finf the answer in faqs - on msm its so easy , as its green for online , and different colours for each instruction

I use yahoo messenger all the time & a list on the left hand side of the home page shows which contacts are available. have you had your contacts accept they want to be added to your list? unless they have accepted your request, it won't show any names

When logged into Yahoo Messenger your Friends List will show. If your contact is online their name will be in bold text
