Sky not working?

Hi there - hope you can help.

last night the sky 'stuck' on a channel and wouldn't go up and down via the remote or the buttons on the front. I could get any of the functions to work.

I then switched it off for 15 mins, turned it back on and sky is now stuck on 'off'.

I haven't had any warnings saying that the remote needs batteries and I assume thats not the problem as the buttons on the front don't get a response either.

is it likely to be a new box needed or something to do with the card-thingy??

My Sky + box did exactly the same a few months ago. I ended up having to get a new box, but was quite pleased because I now have Sky+ HD, which is superb.

Often a Sky box will "freeze".

Best to unplug the mains lead, leave it out for say 10 minutes, then plug it in again.

It may take 5 minutes or so to sort itself out, but then pres the Sky remote and it should come on again.

brilliant - will try that (its switched off and unplugged at the mo so I reckon 5 hours is long enough!!)

36TEAK36 - where did you buy your sky box from - or did they have to come out and replace it?

Sounds like an overheat. This may render the box inop.
Look for another on eBay, and make sure get the new one registered by Sky.

Thanks AlBags - nothing has worked so will now be trawling ebay - or ringing up Sky for a new one.
