I'd like to get a blender but will literally just use it for soups, smoothies and maybe the occasional pasta sauce but I'm definitely not a chef or a baker so don't need a top of the range thing by any stretch of the imagination!
Depends on how much you've got to spend. Have a good look round and check that the bowl bit sits on the motor firmly and securely. And check that the lid fits snugly, you don't want to put something liquidy in the bowl and then the lid doesn't fit properly .....
Kenwood and Moulinex are always good makes.
do you want a hand-blender, or one of the other sort?
I think the really cheap ones have trouble with turning solids into liquids and the higher the watts the more power it has so maybe buy something in the midrange section just in case in the future you need it for something else.
The ultimate for me would be the swiss made bamix,its amazing,makes cream out of powdered milk,amongst other things,think its £100+, got a 10 year guarantee,maybe one day.....
