MM Links Solutions August 2010 [Week 2]

Now that we have had our lesson on owls, The Lady Ursula (aka owllady) turned her attention to her early years ~ leading up to her time that she spent “Down on the Farm”. She finally opted for the link words:

ARABLE Farm
Milk TOOTH (or TEETH)
SWEET Pea
Bean FEAST

Surprisingly, all four links were picked off by the time the clock read 09.01 (after only four entries). Even more surprising was that thereafter the points flowed as a mere trickle rather than an avalanche!

Once again, it was roslyn251254 who was first off the blocks with the very popular SWEET PEA for TWO POINTS quickly followed by JOOLS (smelling just as sweetly) adding two more points to her tally last week of three points. Thus the bar was set by JOOLS at Five Points for any would-be challengers.

The challenge was answered promptly by tearinghair, who brought the remaining three Link Words crashing down for an incredible SIX POINTS! She only missed out on “Sweet Pea” ~ opting instead for “Pea Brain” (no comment please) [Her words not mine!] It has been many moons since we have celebrated a Six Pointer and this ex-MM Links Champion more than qualifies for the coveted title of HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK.

*** The peasants cheer and shout “Encore” ***

Showing how quick you need to be on the button, with the clock at 09.02, Entrant #11 was another ex-Champion in our very own seekeerz sorting out her PEAS and BEANS for Four Points. Another early bonus point was picked up by centrino before the time-window of opportunity closed.

Single points were thereafter scored by Elspeth, LaneyB, joto, Handbaglady, teacher1, jobjockey, SHAZZA & ChrisHewat in a game where points were hard to come by. All the more praiseworthy then were the efforts of barb7771 and middlestump who impressed the scorer with their double hits (each earning Two Points)

With tearinghair shooting into the lead from nowhere, it just goes to prove that it’s never too late! The field is now strung out with several ex-champions jockeying for position. What will happen next week? Who can tell?
