Like him or loath him, agree or disagree on who should receive honours.
But the question I wish to put is, 'Why hasn't Bruce Forsyth ever been made a Sir?

My comment about separating the art from the artist was clearly in reference to your comment about Gary Glitter. i was at pains to point out that i regard his music as excellent, and contemporary, but his personal activities to be reprehensible - and certainly in no way comparable with Mick Jagger's, who's off-stage activities have concerned either abuse of his own person, or legal activities with consenting adults.
Wikipedia is a notoriously innacurate source of information, with a lot of its statements being uncorroborated - i would not necessarily set store by its postings - however -
Jagger's seven children by four women - two were his wives, and he is on record as having contributed financially through their upbringing, as well as having loving relationships with all his children. If we want to point the finger at men who ignore their out-of-wedlock children, let's turn the spotlight on Lord Cecil Parkinson - a Peer of the realm, as opposed to a mere Knight.
I maintain that Jagger's 'anti-establishment stance' was the work of his highly successful manager Andrew Loog Oldham, who saw the Stones image (unwashed, dangerous, rebellious) as the antidote to the clean-image Beatles.
Cecil Beaton photographed jagger's naked buttocks? Hardly a threat tp the safety of the nation is it?
The raid on Ricahrds' mansion was orchestrated by The News Of The World who, by coincidnece, had a repoerter and photographer ready on the spot to be outraged on the nation's behalf about what one individual chose to do at a weekend party in his own home - no press or public invited.
I appreciate that you may not approve of Mick Jagger, but do not be sucked into the tired old media cliches. i am fully aware of what he is - and what he is not - but I don't rely on Wiki for my information.

I think in this instance we must agree to disagree.
You wish to put Jagger on a pedestal and he just disgusts me, I also don't even like his 'music'.
/// but I don't rely on Wiki for my information.///
I don't particularly rely on Wiki because I know it is not all that reliable, but the snippets I highlighted are know knowledge and Jaggers and the Stone's antics can be researched from numerous sources.
Unless you yourself knows Jagger personally, I presume you also can only gain information about him off the Web, perhaps from his 'Fan Club' maybe, but won't that be a little bias?

Great minds AOG!
I was just thinking as i clicked on to your answer, that we are simply going to have to agree that our views are not likely to align on this occasion.
I wouldn't say i put Jagger on a pedestal, but I do adore his music, and i do think a large part of his image is manufactured by the media - both for and against.
An interesting exchange of views though as usual - thank you.

Jagger has been a non-rebel all his life; he's a classic Tory. (Keef is your anti-establishment man.) I must admit I went right off him after his 'divorce' from Jerry Hall in which, rather like Henry VIII, he went to great lengths to prove that the marriage was invalid all along. That showed serious lack of class.
As for Brucie, I've never liked him much (his glory days were before my time) and he's always been a local phenomenon, unlike the Stones; but all the same I would have thought he met all the usual criteria. Maybe he's just refused one?
