I despair at the lack of knowledge, regarding the above.
This morning,as I was walking home,a lady,riding a bike,asked me if I could let her pass.
My immediate reaction was to let her know, that she should use the road,as required by law.
I was left gobsmacked by her reply:- "Its too dangerous"
Surely something can be done to police this in a correct manner, with the emphasis being
on police.

Thanks very much paddywak.
That is exactly the point I am trying to make.
The thing that gets me more then cyclists are people with Motobility scooters, usually older people, many who have or had cars so they should know better but they still charge about as if they've a god given right of way.

Especially when they bring the bl**dy things into supermarkets.
I had an identical encounter as you daftgrandad a couple of years ago and it was on an almost deserted road and I refused to let her past (probably a different story if it had been a 6' bloke).

Most annoying is one local road where there are wide cycle lanes on both sides and yet, so often, there are cyclists on the pavement on the side where the traffic is moving in the same direction in which they are travelling, so that the cyclist only has to move a yard to their right to be in the cycle lane.
the proficiency standards of some cyclists on the road in my opinion is very poor, which is why they probably feel that the roads are dangerous. I think some sort of basic understanding of road rules and general do's and donts would benefit any cyclist.
Roads are also dangerous places for vehicles so should cars and motor bikes be allowed on the pavement also?I am sick to death of having to side step idiots on cycles who by law should be on the road.
