Oh yes, definitely this year. I am the big (whisper it...) 5-0 later this year.
30 did not bother me in the least - I loved my 30's on the whole.
40 didn't bother me - even though some of my most traumatic times have been in my 40's.
But 50? Scares the f*** out of me. And not only that, I become a grandmother in July. Does that mean I have to start behaving? Nah.......
I am grateful to have made it to my 50's. I want many many more years yet. But for the first time in my life I feel I am getting old and it is indeed frightening how quick half a century (!) has gone.
I do wonder where the time goes. It doesn't seem that long ago that my mum was the age Im at now - man she was sooo old! And here I am, 38. 40 is looming... I can't say it bothers me but my OH has joked at how I'll be a pensioner before I know it.
Last laugh's on me though, I can retire 12 years before he can and fair play, I might reach 60 before he does, but he'll be the 53 yr old dude dating a pensioner! :p
I have always felt old before my time
became a mum at 19
then eight years ago met mr zzxxee (finally found my soul mate in my early 30s)
he is 42 and a grandad of three !!! so at 38 i have 3 step grand kids !!!!!!!!!!!!
Count me in on your "birthday celebration", sallabananas. I am 38 years old, and was "done" some years ago. I need to be totally sure the operation was a complete success though.
