does anyone know if there are any tablets for nerve pain?.My doctor told me that there was nothing available to stop nerve pain ,that was about two years ago. i was listening to radio two last week and the doctor that speaks on the jeremy vine show (i think)said that there is now some just come onto the market and that they were very good. i don't want to go and spend an hour waiting at my doctors just for him to tell me i am wrong so i was hoping that someone had already tried them and could tell me if they worked .the pain is in my left foot and feels like i am being stabbed in the foot with a screwdriver,it happens every minute or so and lasts for about  four hours at a time.thanks in advance .

jacko...have you been tested for b12 deficiency?? thats how my pain started in my left foot exactly like you say...i limped around for 6 years by that time it had spread to my eye and lower back...and i was still limping around like an old soldier...then i got a seriouse attack and they found out i had pernicious anaemia..so i have to get b12 shots and it took a while but the pain has gone ..and i just get mild symptoms when the injection is due and i am run down..what you have got is periphal nerve damage...you may be able to do a search on it and find out what others take...be warned it takes years for the nerves to repair..it took 18 months for my foot to improve ..its a dodgy area..hope you get sorted..

Thanks mullein3 i took your advice about vitamin b complex and b12 from our last contact when i asked about nerve regeneration ,i am now about three weeks into taking those tablets so thanks for that .as i said i heard talk of new tablets that stop nerve pain and wanted to know if anyone had tried them ,i think if i could stop the pain i could manage with the numbness and permanant limp ,it is just that when you are sitting up at 2am waiting for it to go away you tend to get a bit down ,as i am sure you know .well thanks again for your help.
If your problem still persists... Why not try hypnosis?
Question Author
thanks tha-flash i have never considered that ,have you or anyone you know tried it and if so did it work?please let me know while i have a think about it.
I am a member of a popular hypnosis forum and there are millions of people hypnosis HAS and DO work for.

They've done operations where instead of putting the patient to sleep they have a hypnotist helping somebody go in to hypnosis and they feel no pain.

-In hypnosis, you do have full control and you are aware of what is happening.
-All hypnosis is self-hypnosis, people can guide you in to it though.
-Hypnosis is not sleep.

It can cost quite alot for some hypnosis sessions I've heard but you could even try it on yourself. Find a hypnosis induction script which will get you relaxing first and once you feel like your totally relaxed and comfortable... Suggest to yourself (out loud or in your head in a confident/motivational voice) in many different ways how the pain will disappear. The shorter the suggestions the better as they're easily accepted.

Imagine you can see the pain as a red colour in your foot and imagine it turning light blue which means there is no pain.

Basically, if you can persuade yourself or, maybe easier... Get someone else to persuade you that your foot is fine and aslong as you really believe it, it will be fine.

Good Luck :)

thanks again tha- flash ,i can,t afford it if it is expensive &all the scaremongering i have seen about hyonosis tends to put me off trying it on myself i am bad enough now without being hypnotised for the rest of my life and not knowing it .   but seriously thanks for the info i will find out if there is anything on offer here in south wales and may just give it a try.once again thank you.
I see what you're saying yeah...

But I promise: Hypnosis is safe. You go in to hypnosis everyday without even knowing it. Like at the cinema when your watching a film, your senses are engaged. Reading a book, and so on.
