There can't be many people who don't know the name of the injunction case soccer player. Fans of clubs playing against his must have had a field day shouting abuse when he's on the ball. Has anyone heard any such abuse or chants that can be repeated here without of course namng the mystery individual?

I certainly didn't know it was Digs - but it's in the public arena now.

The MP who named him claimed to do so because he was worried aout the potential secret imprisonment of people who may have named Digs on Twitter.

How likely is that?

I feel it more likely that the Honourable Gentleman - the MP that is of course! - named Digs because he sees the Super-Injunction as supression of free speech.

It's a difficult balancing act for judges - between the right to privacy and protection of families, wighed against the freedom of speech and the 'right to know'.

I think with hindsight, Digs would have been better to let the media publish in the first pace, ride out the storm, and let it die quietly.

No chance of that happening now!

andy, I gather the judge's reason for granting the injunction was that he suspected the young lady of blackmailing the footballer. It's standard practice to suppress the names of blackmail victims, otherwise they'd never dare report the blackmail, and blackmailers everywhere would rejoice.

Never thought of that aspect. Blackmail is much nastier than having a bit on the side. Perhaps we will learn more as time passes.

No there was never any intention on the young lady's part of blackmail, according to Max Clifford. she did her best not to get any of this mentioned, G1ggs was being neurotic!!

And any judge with the name Tugenhat belongs in Harry Potter and not the real world!!!
