What has it got to do with the likes of Vanessa Redgrave, would she like them bordering on her land?

Many of them are just tramps on wheels and nobody wants to live next door to that.
If they go there will be trouble.
An' if they stay it will be double.
Well come on and let them know.
Should they stay or should they go.

Seems like trouble makers are to highjack the proceedings.

I wonder if the UAF will turn up, or are they too busy organising a bust-up for Saturday?
Is there anything happening today ? Does,nt seem to be mentions at all in any of the News channels.
Perhaps it,s been postponed, because of one old lady,s health issues.
Final pleading ? http://www.bbc.co.uk/...ngland-essex-14748540

If an old lady has a health problem maybe she should be in the care of the hospital, or elsewhere.
Could,nt agree more OG.
In a nutshell, the short answer to my question, seems to be no .
i'm astounded this thread gone on so long, perhaps not quite as long as the travellers have been at dale farm, but you never know. This feels as though it may turn into a free for all, you just feel that with the anarchists jumping in, and Vanessa Redgrave leading the charge, and whoever else shows up, that it will kick off. What the chances of deploying 16,000 police this time.
Vanessa Redgrave should try living next to them......she'd soon change her tune and bugger off back to the smoke

Round 'em up and put 'em all on the first ferry home......back to Ireland
I've had mixed experiences with travellers but mostly I've not had negative ones and there is a group of travellers who travel who come and pitch on my land and sometimes winter with me, and of them I've never had any problems. I did get into a massive fight with one traveller guy who tried to nick my car and then a further fight a few days later opver the same situation but by and large my own personal experiences of them have not been all that negative. the thing is with all this move them on nonsense is that however much people want them to conform and get a 9-5 job and a little council flat they just won't do that because it really is a totally different culture, one that is totally disregarded and discriminated against in most parts of the world, here included. Personally I'd let them stay- and yes that also being if they were next door to me. They expect you to be their enemy and 9 times out of ten as this thread has shown you are, so why would they care or consider you in any shape or form, this cuts both ways and not many people seem able to see that but there are some very ugly opinions on this thread from people who like to consider themselves quite tolerant.
My entire working life (27 years), I`ve worked in jobs that attract these travellers, gypsies, pikeys and I cannot find one good word to say about them.

From my early days working for a welding firm, to having my own welding business to working on the railways, everytime it involved these people it has been because they have been on the take.

They used to come and help themselves to scrap metal, ask to borrow welding equipment on the promise to return it later that day! (yeh right).

I`ve had my workshop broken into 4 times by these scumbags.

They are costing the railways millions by nicking copper cable.

All this crap about people not giving them a chance etc etc is their choice as they admit to not mixing with us "gorgers" and stick together in their own untouchable little world.

If they are all misunderstood people then why are they not welcome in 99.9% of pubs...could it be because once they take over a pub it always ends up in a mass brawl?

And the outcome is always the same.."It wasn`t our fault officer"!
Paddy in the Big Brother House seems to be comfortable in a house, like some of the Gypsy's who live in fixed abodes with no wheels underneath on the site.

Its simple really, they should have applied for planning permission in the first place, paid their council taxes, income tax, car tax, MOT, insurance stamps etc and have got the sick lady into a hospital for treatment.

If they are travelers, the bailiffs will be doing them a favour by helping them to travel, problem solved!!!!! Hi Elvis.
When I lived in Bedford, they gave 'travellers' their own site, but they had to have a warden to keep everything in order. The next thing we knew, the warden's caravan had been burnt down with him in it. Nobody was ever charged with murder, which is what it was. These people were not satisfied with the very large piece of land they'd been given, they resorted to murder as thanks.
The road they were on was called Cut Throat Lane. Very appropriate!

Hi Nox, yes I do consider myself tolerant of race, greed, colour, age etc. etc. etc. I have had nothing but bad experiences as have most other people (as shown on this thread). Sorry but how can I be tolerant of people who show no regard for others, thieve, leave dead dogs and rubbish all around and are hostile towards others outside of their group and give nothing back by way of taxes etc.

I agree that those who make friends with them and don't shown animosity will be considered more favourably by them (such as yourself). But in my mind that means that you are quite openly not opposed to them sponging off society, living outside the rules, thieving etc. or you can turn a blind eye to it. I can't.

I am sorry if I lump them all together, there probably are good ones amongst them, but I can only talk from my own experience.
creed, not greed :o(
I'm not ploughing through all this, but from what I have seen on the TV, one group of the travellers have planning permission for their vans and trailers, but the second lot don't, they just parked and took the land. Is it only the second bunch who are being evicted, or all of 'em?
If they want to live outside our culture completely, including not paying anything towards this country, then that's fine. I am quite happy if they buy a piece of remote land, live on it in tents with no amenities, produce all their own goods, don't use our roads, schools, doctors, hospitals, etc. etc.
Just the ones who have built on it, etc. illegally I hope Boxtops. It's their own land so the others that have not flouted any laws should stay. If they are evicted then it would be illegal.

Even though you own land there is such a lot you can't do with it (as I know very well)
This isn't an isolated case though is it. How many times do you read the same thing, the travellers buy the land, move in en masse on a bank holiday, when council offices are shut, and then proceed to put down concrete and tarmac, and their caravans, vehicles and don't move, no matter the entreaties by the local community. The police seem to be powerless to do anything. The councils then spend a fortune on trying to sort it out.
Plenty of little uninhabited islands at the top of Scotland! We get travellers visiting our village a couple of times a years to hold a horse fair. On these occaisions the pub and shops have to close and board up, the childrens playground gets used as a public toilet. The amount of rubish left behind is disgraceful.
