My laptop seems to be a lot hotter than it ever has been, and I wondered why this may be?

I can hear the fan going around, though it's quite quiet and I can only hear it if I put my ear against it.

I've always used it on my lap, and I can't ever recall it being this warm/hot before.

Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks :-)

You need to give it a blow or a suck....

And as for the laptop, getting some compressed air, or at a push a vacuum cleaner and get all the dust and fluff out from the heatsink and fan area.

*Splutters* Er... !! :D

Right. I've tried sucking on it, but I just got a mouthful of heat. Is that what you meant? Wrong... so wrong.

I've got a can of air, should I just shoot that into where the fan is, through the vents? I don't need to take it apart or anything, do I?
Turn the laptop off and then use a vacuum cleaner on the fan vent.
so your computer is like you, flip, hot......

blast of compressed air - they aren't expensive to buy.. and run it under your keyboard as well while you are at it - I also use a clean paint brush for that re any sticky keys....
artists paint brush that is.
If you have a can of air use that, blow the air the opposite way to the normal airflow the fan creates (they normally suck in through the bottom and blow out the back or side, so sick the can of air in the back or side). You are best off getting a cocktail stick and sticking it in the vent on the bottom where the fan is to stop the fan from spinning when you blow the air through.

You'll probably get a big cloud of dust come out the bottom when you give it a blow.

Thanks Bibblebub. I'll give that a go.

DTCWF, Yep I've got some of that stuff... somewhere.
I'll switch it off and give it a good blast.
I don't have any sticky keys, though... thank you very much! lol.
