1 Timothy 1:19
New Living Translation (©2007)
Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked.
Some behavior known to be really wrong under the belief was committed and then -- oops !! What's happening -- my Faith is slipping away.

So in the end what did you decide Naomi? Shall I get over it or you want to fulfil your duty. But I do like one think that when you do not have a suitable answer then you always hint about other bits and pieces. For example all of a sudden now sex determination at 42 days, star and devils came into it. We have talked about those subjects on different threads only few days ago so why do you try to divert attentions. If you want to talk about those again then either go back to the same threads or feel free in posting a new one. Or ignore if you can.
Yes, I did believe, but my parents weren't church goers and I don't think they are believers to this day. It wasn't really discussed. They may believe in a God, but they certainly did not follow religion, as that is a different matter altogether.
They never would have told me that they didn't believe as they want me to make up my own mind and not be influenced by them. Just like they would never have told me that Santa didn't exist. Plus I think they probably found it to be a bonus to have a child who does not want to upset God as they may be better behaved. I would in turn also not discourage my daughter from finding a faith which could be a comfort to her in her life.
I think the times have changed now though, as when I ask her if she wants to go to the local Sunday Kids Club, she says "No, all they do is sing and pray to God and I don't believe in him." If she did find a faith, I would like it to be a non violent one to all earth's creatures, like the Krishna faith or similar.

jedi, my folks never told me that santa and the tooth fairy existed or that they didn't. they just left it to my imagination pretty much, or possibly as a bargaining/bribery tool!
