Wood burning stove question for you all

Not sure if this is the right area but need to ask this all the same. I have a wood burning stove at home which needs asbestos insulation sticking to it. At the moment I have clipped this beading with wires but this is not the best way to do this. I have tried using some fire cement but this is not working. Have any of you had a similar problem and can you recommend any good fire cement for me to use?

Before I get into the fixing, Jonners......... are you sure about attaching insulation directly to the burner? Who told you to do this? It won't be asbestos these days either. I guess you mean fire-proof material to separate the fire from its surroundings? Does it have to insulate as well?

Buy some fible-board from builders merchant (like used for tile/slate roofing) It is available in sheets/strips of a few different widths. That's what I use to protect kitchen cupboard units from the heat of adjoining Rayburns/Agas.

In case you ARE referring to rope sealings ....

Fire cement is just cement .. NOT adhesive.
Any rope you use should be the correct size and rammed into the slot. Some stoves need pre-formed gasgets of fg rope.

Yes, I do mean the fireproof rope around the doors. Does this mean I can not use the fire cement as adhesive then? Is there such a thing as fireproof adhesive then? If so then where can I get it?

Al might know for sure, Jonners, but any I've come across hold themselves in the slot around the door.

You need to get a bottle of high temp glue...clean the groove out and take the doors off if you can...use plenty of glue on the rope ends...let it dry before lighting the fire. you can get it of ebay...about £5

Correct .. If it just sits there, you can glue it.
Some stoves, it is just rammed in. Others it is trapped in a void.
